Genre and mood first
Suno weighs the first tags the most: start with the genre and the mood.
Pick genre, mood, tempo, voice, key, chords and sound, and copy a Suno-ready prompt. Already have your song? Use the “Improve my song” mode to give it a wider sound and keep Suno from pushing your voice too high.
Pick one. It is the first thing Suno reads.
energetic, peaceful
Suno weighs the first tags the most: start with the genre and the mood.
It works better than a long sentence. 8 to 14 tags is a good range.
A BPM and a key give it clear guidance on energy and on how high the vocal goes.
Say who sings and in which register, so the vocal does not climb to notes you cannot reach.
Use the exclude styles field in the advanced options instead of writing “no…” in the prompt.
Tags like [Verse], [Chorus] or [Drop] tell Suno how to lay out the song.
The “Improve my song” mode starts from what you have: your recorded voice, a hummed melody, a demo or the generated song. You mark what it lacks (narrow stereo, weak low end, buried vocal, AI-made sound or a vocal that is too high) and the sound you want to reach, and the generator builds a prompt with those fixes and a list of styles to exclude.
Examples built from the same bank as the generator. Copy them as they are or open them above to tweak them.

It is the style description Suno uses to generate the song: comma-separated English tags with genre, mood, tempo, voice, instruments and sound. Suno weighs the first ones the most, which is why the generator puts genre and mood first.
In recent versions the style field accepts around 1,000 characters and in older ones about 200. The limit depends on the model you use and can change, so follow the counter on your screen. The generator has a compact 200-character mode.
You can specify them, and Suno takes them as guidance, not as a rule. The generator adds the key ("in A minor"), the vocal register and the progression with the real chords of that key, both in the style and at the top of the lyrics.
Set the key you sing comfortably in, pick the low register and exclude "high-pitched vocals". If you upload your own recording, record it in that key. If it still raises the pitch, generate another take instead of forcing it in the mix.
Because Suno reads style tags best in English. Your lyrics can be in any language: write them in the lyrics field with the structure the generator gives you.
Yes: no sign-up and no limits. Prompts are built in your browser from a bank of genres, moods, instruments, sounds and chord progressions.
