Measure your song’s loudness the way platforms do: integrated LUFS (EBU R128), true peak in dBTP, loudness range and how much Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and others will turn it up or down. In your browser, without uploading the file.
Streaming platforms normalize loudness: if your master is louder than their reference they turn it down; if it is quieter, some turn it up. The usual reference is -14 LUFS integrated on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music and TIDAL, -15 on Deezer and -16 on Apple Music. These are published references that can change; what matters is not crushing the dynamics to “win” loudness and keeping the true peak below -1 dBTP.
| Platform | Reference loudness |
|---|---|
| Spotify | -14 LUFS |
| YouTube | -14 LUFS |
| Amazon Music | -14 LUFS |
| TIDAL | -14 LUFS |
| Deezer | -15 LUFS |
| Apple Music | -16 LUFS |
LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) measure perceived loudness according to ITU-R BS.1770 / EBU R128. The integrated value sums up the loudness of the whole song and is what streaming platforms use to normalize.
By default Spotify normalizes to about -14 LUFS integrated: if your song is louder, it turns it down. You do not have to hit -14, but going far above it only costs dynamics. Keep the true peak below -1 dBTP to avoid distortion when encoding.
It is the signal’s maximum peak between samples, estimated with 4x oversampling. It can be higher than the sample peak and it is what causes distortion when converting to MP3 or AAC. Keeping it below -1 dBTP is recommended.
It measures how much the loudness varies through the song (EBU Tech 3342). A low LRA means a heavily compressed song; a high one, a song with a lot of dynamics.
No. The measurement happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
